Dr. Jerome Tsang is certified in Podiatric Orthopaedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine. He has been practicing for many years, helping countless patients with all types of foot ailments, disorders, and pain.

In addition to holding a D.P.M. (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) degree, Dr. Tsang is a Fellow of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot & Ankle Surgery, a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine, and a Fellow of both the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Tsang is American and Canadian Board-Certified in Pedorthics, qualifying him to custom-make foot orthoses and footwear. He has more than 25 years of experience delivering care for complex foot disorders — including diabetic patients, bunions, hammertoes, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, and plantar fasciitis.

Dr. Michael Chen

Dr. Michael Chen received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and has been with Edmonton Foot Health Centre since September 2001.

Dr. Chen earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan in 1996 and his DPM from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (formerly the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) in May 2000. He completed a residency at the Department of Veterans' Affairs in Montrose, New York, and received a Certificate in Podiatric Orthopedics in 2001.

Besides practicing in the Edmonton area, Dr. Chen also provides podiatric care to Alberta communities such as Morinville, Legal, Redwater, Thorhild, and Gibbons. Home visits are available for individuals who are immobile or have difficulty coming to our office.

How coverage works at our centre

How do you become a patient at Edmonton Foot Health Centre? No referral is needed. New patients are welcome. Referrals from family doctors are still welcomed.

Questions about your coverage?

Provincial Medical Plan (AHC)

A portion of your podiatric services is covered under your Alberta Health Care (AHC) plan. Our doctors choose not to charge for the first initial consultation if you have AHC — they will only charge AHC. A cost of $25 is charged from the second visit for routine foot care such as nail clippings and corn/callus treatments. Fees for other treatments and surgeries will be discussed with the doctor before any treatment.

DVA & RCMP

Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) and RCMP patients receive full coverage, depending on the status of your medical care plan. If you are unsure about your coverage, we will be happy to clarify this for you.

Extended Health Care Plans

Most extended health plans will cover podiatric services that are not covered by your AHC plan. The amount of coverage will vary from policy to policy. Direct billing is available — please inquire with our staff.

Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?

No referral is needed. New patients are welcome at Edmonton Foot Health Centre. Referrals from family doctors are still accepted as they come.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

We can usually see you within 1 business day. Same-day appointments are generally available. If you experience a medical emergency, we will make it our priority to see you as soon as possible.

Are fees covered by Alberta Health Care?

AHC offers partial coverage for podiatry. Our doctors waive their portion for the first initial consultation — AHC is the only charge. From the second visit, a $25 fee applies for routine foot care (nail clippings, corn/callus treatment). Other treatment fees are discussed before any procedure.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your valid Alberta Health Care (AHC) card, date of birth, address, home and work telephone numbers, a list of current medications, a brief medical history, and a short description of your foot problem and any prior treatments. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete new patient forms.
